You’re Not A Burden, You’re Human

It’s common to feel like your needs are “too much” or that your struggles weigh others down. In our work together, you’ll find a supportive space to unpack those feelings and discover your worth, your strengths, and new ways of relating — to yourself and the world around you.

The pressure of modern life — especially in late-stage capitalism — can leave us feeling exhausted, disconnected, or like we’re never enough. Therapy offers a space to slow down, to unmask, and to make sense of your experiences without judgment.

If you’re ready to reclaim your sense of self and explore new ways of being, I’m here to help you through it.

Meet Adam Charny

Licensed Professional Counselor, MA, LPC ( He/ They)

As a neurodivergent, queer/gay man living with chronic pain, I understand how complex it can be to move through a world that often wasn’t built with you in mind. These lived experiences shape the way I show up as a therapist — with empathy, curiosity, and deep respect for each person’s unique way of being.

I believe therapy should feel like a safe relationship where you can be real, explore what’s happening inside, and practice new ways of moving through the world. My approach isn’t one-size-fits-all — I meet you where you are and draw from what feels most supportive for your needs and goals.

Our relationship is at the heart of the work. The way we show up together can become a model for how you relate to others — and to yourself — beyond therapy.

I focus on what’s happening in the present moment, helping you become more aware of your emotions, thoughts, and reactions as they arise. Together, we build practical tools for understanding and regulating your inner world with greater ease and compassion.

I also pay attention to how your experiences live in the body — tension, exhaustion, restlessness, or other sensations that often speak before words do. By learning to listen to these cues with gentleness, you can begin responding to your needs rather than reacting to stress.

Through a decolonizing lens, we’ll name and explore the systems that cause harm — capitalism, white supremacy, patriarchy, ableism, and other forms of oppression that shape how we see ourselves and move through the world. Healing isn’t just about changing yourself; it’s about understanding how you’ve adapted to survive in systems that weren’t built for your well-being.

I believe therapy can help you reconnect with your voice, your body, and your sense of power — not to fix what’s “broken,” but to reclaim what has always been yours.

My Services

LGBTQ+ Affirming Therapy

I offer affirming therapy for LGBTQIA+ individuals and relationships, creating a space where all identities and expressions are welcomed and celebrated. Together, we’ll explore what it means to live authentically in a world that doesn’t always make that easy, while working toward deeper self-understanding and care.

  • Many of my clients come to therapy navigating family rejection, religious or cultural trauma, or the effects of systemic oppression. I also support individuals and partners exploring queer relationships, including non-monogamy, polyamory, and other alternative relational structures.

This work can include questioning or exploring your gender and sexuality, coming out, and unlearning internalized homophobia or transphobia. My goal is to create a space where you can feel safe enough to be curious, connected, and fully yourself — without judgment or expectation.

Neurodivergent Therapy

I offer neurodivergent-affirming therapy that celebrates different ways of thinking, feeling, and being. Whether you identify as AuDHD, ADHD, or are still exploring your neurodivergence, our work focuses on understanding your needs and unlearning the shame that comes from living in a world built for neurotypical norms.

  • Many of my clients come to therapy exhausted from years of masking, trying to meet expectations that don’t honor their natural rhythms or ways of processing the world. Together, we’ll work through burnout, executive functioning challenges, and self-advocacy, building systems and routines that truly support you.

We’ll also explore relational dynamics — how to connect authentically with others while honoring your own boundaries and needs. A big part of this work is cultivating radical acceptance: learning to embrace your brain, body, and experience as worthy and whole, just as they are.

Liberation
Therapy

Liberation therapy centers your healing within the realities of the world we live in — acknowledging the impact of oppressive systems and working toward self-understanding, empowerment, and collective care.

  • Liberation therapy invites you to look at the ways the world has shaped how you see yourself — and how those messages may have turned inward. Together, we’ll explore internalized oppression, identity, and the process of reclaiming agency over your story.

This work often involves unlearning the ways you’ve blamed yourself for things that were never within your control, and finding compassion for the parts of you that had to adapt to survive. Healing becomes an act of resistance and reclamation — a chance to build a life grounded in dignity, connection, and possibility.

You don’t have to do this alone. We’ll explore how to embrace community care and mutual support, learning to create inclusive networks and systems that foster well-being and contribute to a fairer, more just world.
